Chairman's
Corner
From the April 2003 issue of the Partnership Review
Let's talk about the Rio Grande Valley Partnership. I wonder why
I should begin to support, or continue to support the "Partnership."
Like most of you, I wonder what is the "value" of the dollar I
am spending. This, I believe, is a valid question for us to ask.
As
the chairman of the Partnership this year and a volunteer board
member for several other years, I have witnessed "from within
the walls" the efforts of the Partnership. I can tell you that
any contribution you or I make in not being "spent," but rather
"invested." Yes, invested towards a better Rio Grande Valley community
for all.
Consider
that the Partnership is funded primarily by our private contributions,
and with those contributions the Partnership has helped to make
so many things possible. When leaders from over the Valley want
to get a project organized, they come to the Partnership.
For
example, for agriculture-land for research, water projects, and
the sugar industry began here. Infrastructure, especially highways,
is addressed on a Valleywide basis. Even saving the U.S. Consulate
in Matamoros is among its accomplishments. Currently, its legislative
program, transportation efforts, education, and quality of life
issues continue on many levels.
Yes,
from my seat as a board member I see the benefits. But more importantly,
I believe that we can agree, as members of our Valley community,
we feel and live those benefits daily.
I
thank all of you that in one way or another help support the RGV
Partnership and, as chairman, ask for your continued support.
As a citizen amongst you, I feel it will be some of the best money
we will ever invest.
Sincerely,
Robert
L Lozano
